have you seen passion? | vol. 20
vol. 20
Hey there,
My normal Saturday morning routine is to get up, work on the finishing touches for The Weekly PRST, go to yoga, come home and send out The Weekly PRST, make breakfast for the fam, and then get to whatever the day holds for us. Well, today on my way home from yoga I noticed how beautiful the day was and decided when I got home I was going to get everyone up and ready to walk to our favorite local coffee shop for breakfast. We could have busted out the bikes but I wanted the longer trip because it would mean more time as a family--I was in no rush to get to breakfast or to get home.
The downside is that meant this email was going to go out a little later than normal. As much as I love PRST and I appreciate YOU, I will always choose walking to breakfast over getting The Weekly PRST out on time. Every time.
And I hope you would do the same...yes, we all have a lot of things to accomplish and deadlines to meet but we don't have that many Saturday mornings to walk to breakfast (replace my morning with whatever is relevant for you). The "things" and deadlines will still be there and they'll get done.
Enjoy the important moments--don't push them aside because you won't get a chance to redo them.
the collective
This week a group of three individuals started on the six week Collective journey with me. After the first week, we have some ideas of where we are heading but we don't know exactly what the end result will look like...which I think is the way it should be. We're embarking on the "faith of the unknown" that Kendrick Lamar referenced on his message to fans before his most recent album. I'm in no rush for the Collective to be complete but I'm also excited to see where we go and share some of the successes we've had.
I also wanted to thank the beta members of the Collective for trusting me and also for helping me fine tune the process to make it as impactful as possible for the future classes.
Stay tuned for more...
FPA of Orange County talk
I was lucky enough to get my hands on the raw video of my talk in California a couple of weeks ago. I know I shared the YouTube video that had the slides for most of the talk, so if you want to see the cleaner version of the talk you can check it out here:
Ok, let's get to The PRST...
passion. relationships. self. time.
Each week this section will consist of curated blog posts, articles, podcasts, videos, etc. that address Passion, Relationships, Self, and Time--the components of PRST

what does passion look like?
If you've never paid attention to see what passion looks like, take a few minutes and watch Mac Miller's Tiny Desk Concert. Notice Mac's body movement as he raps the lyrics. Notice the way the band moves as they play their instruments. Now notice the way you're moving as you listen to Mac and the band. Notice the genuine laughter. Notice the smiles throughout the entire set. These are all expressions of each individual's Self and the inner creator's ability to do what it wants to do...create and share.
This mini concert is an expression of passion from beginning to end.
"It's a beautiful thing. Music is a beautiful thing."
-Mac Miller
It's one thing to see another's passion but seeing it on your own Self is something else.
Below is a screen shot from the intro to my podcast. I'll never forget the first time I saw this after my video editor finished it--I had no idea he was going to add this and when I watched it I could see the passion in my eyes. There's a sparkle in my eyes and that smile on my face that told me I needed to be doing more of that--more podcasting, more videos...more creating. I kid you not, it was at that moment that I began to finalize my decision to make some changes to my life to give me more time to create.
So my question for you is, what makes you light up like this?

You Must Walk Away From From These People | Jordan Peterson On Toxic Relationships. Jordan Peterson can be a bit controversial but in this video compilation he hits on many important points about the people in our lives. The relationships in our lives are going to impact our Pursuits in either a positive or negative way---very few relationships will be neutral. It's not easy to move on from family, friends, or others who are not a positive force in our lives but eventually it becomes a decision that must be made to continue on your path.
How many positive influences do you have in your life? How many negative?

Curious Humans: New Frontiers of Breathwork--Translating The Language Of the Breath. I will admit, I've just started this podcast but I have no doubt it's going to be good. I've shared some of what I've learned about the benefits of breath work and I continue to see and hear people talking about the power of intentional breath work.

The "when it is squandered in luxury and CARELESSNESS, when it is devoted to no good end, forced by the ultimate necessity we perceive that it has passed away before we were aware that it was passing" part really stood out to me.
