As we prepare for our annual family vacation to New Buffalo, Michigan I thought I'd try something different in this week's volume of The Weekly PRST. Last night I was at my parents house borrowing their washing machine (ours decided to go out two days before our vacation) and I put on Dave Chappelle's latest Netflix special "What's In A Name", which was his acceptance speech at Duke Ellington School of Arts in Washington D.C.--his alma mater.

His speech is a great mix of memories from his time at Ellington, comedy, and life lessons. Although the life lessons are tailored toward "artists", I believe a lot of them are applicable to those of us on our Pursuit.

Not only do these lessons apply to our Pursuits, I've grown to believe that we all have an inner creator, or artist, and we should allow for her to come out and express herself. I was so inspired by hearing his Pursuit toward becoming a comedian, his confidence in his skill, and his advice toward artists maintaining their freedom to create how they want to create that I watched it again when I got home with my wife.

So, instead of the usual PRST sections, take that 30 minutes that it would normally take you to get through those sections and watch Dave's speech. As you listen, listen to it as the creator that you are--it will hit different than if you listen as the (insert professional title here) that you are.

FWIW: you can be a corporate executive (or any profession) and still express your artistic/creative self in the business world. You don't have to be an actual artist, actress, musician, etc. to be creative in your work/life.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did--the final name of the theater is really special.
